Victims of Drunk Drivers (VDD)

A mission to reduce impaired driving and save lives.

Who We Are

Victims of Drunk Drivers (VDD) is a nonprofit organization founded by James Rosenberg after he survived being struck at highway speed by a drunk driver. That moment redirected his life toward a single purpose: reducing the number of Impaired Drivers on our roadways and preventing the tragedies that follow.

The Problem

Impaired driving remains one of the most preventable causes of death in the United States.

  • In 2023, drunk drivers killed 12,429 people.
  • More than 183,000 people were injured.
  • Over 1,000,000 individuals were arrested for DWI.

These are some of the statistics demonstrating the Impaired Driving problem in the United States. They represent futures lost, families shattered, and communities changed forever.

Our Approach

VDD focuses on prevention through:

  • Education – speaking to communities, schools, and organizations about the real‑world consequences of impaired driving.
  • Awareness – sharing survivor stories and data to shift public understanding.
  • Planning Ahead – encouraging individuals to decide how they will get home before they begin drinking.

Every impaired‑driving crash is preventable. Preventing Impaired Driving is not solely a law enforcement obligation; it is a community responsibility.

Why This Matters

Education, awareness, and planning a safe ride home before drinking must be woven into everything we do — into the culture of our communities, and into the fabric of our society.

This is a proven way to reduce the number of people being hurt, maimed, and killed by Impaired Drivers.

Our Vision

We can reduce the number of Impaired Drivers in our communities; where communities take responsibility for one another, and where fewer families experience the devastation caused by Drunk Drivers.

How Support Helps

Philanthropic support allows VDD to:

  • Expand outreach and education programs
  • Build community partnerships
  • Develop prevention campaigns
  • Reach high‑risk populations
  • Strengthen national awareness

Your support accelerates life‑saving work.

I’ve spent the past year building something deeply personal and urgently needed.

Victims of Drunk Drivers is a survivor‑led nonprofit created to bring real‑world truth into impaired‑driving prevention. Our mission is simple: transform grief into change, support victims and families, and help communities understand the lifelong impact of a drunk‑driving crash.
